out of the blue and into the black

THIS SIDE: At a cabin just below treeline at 700 mb in the Medicine Bow Mountains of Wyoming, billion-year-old rocks made almost entirely of quartz scrape the sky. Summer features wildflowers, lakes, and cascading brooks. If it's not winter, then Winter is Coming!

OTHER SIDE: Peering beyond the air into the glittering spaces beyond, the stars of our own galaxy sparkle amid clouds of gas, dust, and soot. And beyond this cosmic doorstep are galaxies without number reaching all the way to the beginning of time.
